Late Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art

Late Nights at the museum is presented by Starbucks Coffee; a night when the entire museum is open till midnight. We went this past Friday to hear the keynote address by Yve-Alain Bois for the Matisse: Painter as Sculptor symposium. The entire museum was filled with people, all kinds of people. All kinds of families. They were eating, drinking, listening, socializing, shopping, thinking, talking on cellphones and looking at art. It was very clear that the museum does not take their Late Nights production lightly, in fact, every bit of real estate was used to entertain, educate, and satiate. Since the Museum of Modern Art started charging $20 for admission, I have come to expect alot of art and have allowed myself to get moody if the art is bad. But the DMA does everything in its event planning that prevents moodiness and hopes you enjoy the art. For $10 or less in admission, Late Nights with Starbucks while in a museum is the place to be on a Friday.
